Execution

Our PRIME process insures that you will learn where you are, where you want to go, and how to get there. That is the essence of a successful strategic plan. The first phases –Pre-Search and Research provide the client with the most relevant and critical information necessary to make sound strategic decisions. The second phases — Insight and Messaging — result in a strategic plan. The final phase — Execution — represents Prime Group’s unique approach of actually helping to manage and implement the strategic plan.

Prime Group’s name derives from an acronym representing the process and the discipline the company brings to every project. PRIME stands for:

Execution

Best-selling authors Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan make the connection between strategy and success by emphasizing the “discipline of getting things done.”? In their seminal work, Execution, they write:

If your business has to survive difficult times, if it has to make an important shift in response to change- and these days just about every business does- it’s far, far more likely to succeed if it’s executing well. (Execution, page 8 )

In the execution phase of our client engagements, Prime Group provides project management for the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.

Why is this an important part of our offering? Bluntly stated, there is usually one big problem with strategic consultants… they present clients with a nicely wrapped strategic plan and then wish them luck. Too often, this results in a plan being shelved for execution at some future, undetermined date.
To avoid this fate, Prime Group created a team within our company that is dedicated to staying with each client to ensure that the strategic plan gets implemented efficiently and effectively, and that it produces measurable results.

The Prime Group approach relies extensively on the processes and best practices of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading association for the project management profession.

The Prime Group execution team conducts effective project management through the use of five processes: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing. The primary output of Initiating is a charter giving the project team authority to proceed to Planning, which in turn culminates in a realistic, consensus project plan. Implementation of the plan and continuous measurement of results are the primary activities during Executing and Controlling, periods in the project which are often the most time and labor intensive. The final phase is Closing, a process during which it is verified that the project objectives, as agreed upon and outlined in the project plan, have been completed to the satisfaction of the client and the project management team. It is also during this final phase that the lessons learned during the project are recorded for knowledge enhancement and future reference.

As Prime Group manages the project through each of these distinct phases, the team produces project deliverables along the way that define and help manage the project scope, measure progress against a baseline plan and master schedule, track and mitigate risks, control costs and communicate status to key stakeholders on an ongoing basis. We also help our clients identify, recruit and manage the internal and external resources that will be essential for the project to succeed.

Project management is commonly described as an art informed by science. Here at Prime Group, we have the experience and know-how to successfully combine the project management discipline with artful intuition, such as making creative decisions and managing political and interpersonal conflicts, to achieve clear goals and facilitate meaningful change.
